8 Cheetahs Arrival in India, declared extinct in the country 7 decades ago

Three male and five female cheetahs were brought to the Kutto National Park as part of a project by the Government of Namibia and India. Finally, the cheetah was declared extinct in India in 1952.

Cheetahs species has arrived in the country after 70 years. PM Modi released these Cheetahs from the wooden box across the fence by pressing the lever from the National Park. Now the new home of these Cheetahs in India is Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh. It is worth mentioning that the species of cheetah was declared extinct in the country in 1952. The exercise to bring the cheetah back to India was going on for many years which has now been successful. Addressing the nation after releasing the cheetahs from their quarantine enclosure in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed for patience before visiting the cheetahs. PM Modi added that although India declared cheetahs extinct in 1952, the unfortunate thing is that for decades no constructive efforts were made to bring them back. On 17th September at 8 am, eight cheetahs landed in Gwalior from Windhoek, the capital of Namibia. It was also PM Modi’s 72nd birthday.

Calling the cheetah a guest of India, PM Modi said that India will try its best to follow the international guidelines for their breeding. He thanked the Government of Namibia for helping the project. Meanwhile, the Congress party said on Friday that the proposal for Project Cheetah was prepared in 2008-09 and was approved by the then Manmohan Singh UPA government. The opposition party said that the Supreme Court stayed the project in 2013 and cleared the way for the return of cheetahs to India before allowing it in 2020. Among these eight Cheetahs there are three males and five females.

PM Modi Said We have to give the cheetahs some time to make Kuno National Park their home. On this occasion, wearing a fedora hat, the PM was seen taking pictures of Cheetahs with a professional camera. On this occasion, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that there can be no greater birthday gift from the Prime Minister for Madhya Pradesh. This will boost tourism in the state especially in Kuno National Park. Narendra Modi said that 21st century is giving a message that economy and ecology are not contradictory fields of India.
